Parent Involvement at Prairie Ridge
Parent involvement is key to the success of the school and students' academics. There is a variety of ways for parents to get involved; for example, with our PTO and School Improvement Team. These groups continually look for ways to improve Prairie Ridge Elementary. In addition, parents can also become:
Parent Group
During the 2007-08 school year, a group of dedicated individuals under the leadership of Dr. Rice, Superintendent of Kalamazoo Public Schools, developed the Strategic Planning Expectations. These expectations can serve as a road map for our students' future success.
The expectations are broken into five different categories: student, community, educators, parents, and support staff. They are then divided by grade-level. In August 2008, all parents were mailed a copy of the expectations specific to your child. If you did not receive a copy, please stop by our office or view the expectations here.
During the 2008-09 school year our Parent Group will develop a Parent Handbook that aligns with the Strategic Planning Expectations. If you would like input, please attend one or more of the parent meetings during the school year.
School Improvement Team
The School Improvement Team helps keep the school "on track" by analyzing our student achievement data and then developing a plan for continuous school improvement. Learn more about the Strategic Planning Expectations and Prairie Ridge's School Improvement Plan.
